Court Approves Overtime Case Against Panel Systems
The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia approved a collective action settlement in an overtime case filed by Murphy Anderson attorneys in May 2022. The Court approved $200,000 of damages and attorneys' fees for the class of employees who performed piece rate work, but were not paid overtime under the federal and Virginia wage laws.
The settlement approved compensation for the workers who alleged they were working as much as 58 hours per week without an overtime premium. The employees also alleged they were not compensated for overtime during meal breaks they routinely worked. The suit was brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Virginia Overtime Wage Act.
Murphy Anderson attorneys Mark Hanna, Joni Jacobs and Nicolas Mendoza represented the plaintiffs.
