Unnecessary Procedures
Paying providers by procedure creates the risk that patients are undergoing medically unnecessary procedures. Some examples include unnecessary testing—in particular radiological testing—and unnecessary orthopedic, cardiovascular, or cancer treatment. Surgeries are inherently dangerous; they must be medically necessary and not just a means for providers to get wealthy. Murphy Anderson lawyers are experienced in packaging and detailing these cases and working with whistleblowers to prove to the government both the financial and public health impact of these unnecessary procedures.
