Jason Veny Speaks on Diversity and Covid Issues at Penn State Arbitration Law Review Panel
Murphy Anderson Partner Jason Veny and Communications Workers of America General Counsel Angela Thompson spoke at the Penn State Arbitration Law Review’s annual symposium on April 20, 2022.
Veny and Thompson dug into the effects of virtual arbitration across race and income, discussing how people of color and low-income workers face significant disadvantages in the process.
The speakers emphasized the need for increased diversity in the field as both a way to better represent the population they serve, as well as to encourage a focus on equity and justice in arbitration. They also discussed the impact of the new norms of virtual arbitration and access to current technology on women, people of color, and low-income workers, and the consequences of forced, confidential arbitration for employees.
