Arlus Stephens represents individuals, unions, and nonprofit entities in all aspects of labor relations and employee compensation and benefits, including matters under ERISA, the FLSA, the NLRA, the False Claims Act, and other laws.
He has successfully represented clients in litigation across the United States, before federal and state courts, arbitrators, and government agencies. He has recovered over $150 million in lost wages and benefits for his clients.
After law school, Arlus clerked for Chief Judge Walter H. Rice of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and for Judge Reynaldo G. Garza of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Before forming Murphy Anderson, he served as assistant general counsel for an international labor organization and was a partner in a national law firm.
By appointment of the D.C. Board on Professional Responsibility, Arlus served for nine years as a member of its Ad Hoc Hearing Committee. He previously served as a senior editor for the American Bar Association’s practice manual, How to Take a Case Before the NLRB, and as a chapter editor of The Developing Labor Law.
Arlus is a proud Dayton native and devoted fan of Buckeye football.
