Samantha Sloane

Samantha ("Sam") Sloane is the current George R. Murphy Fellow in our Washington office. 

During law school, Sam served on the American University Law Review, the executive board of the Moot Court Honor Society, and the Student Bar Association Cabinet.  She was also the Student Liaison to the American Bar Association’s Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs for the 2021-22 school year.  In addition, Sam interned with the Torture Abolition and Survivor Support Coalition, supported the transitional justice work of the Public International Law and Policy Group through the Lawyering Peace Program, and served as a Special Assistant to the Chairperson of the United Nations Committee Against Torture through the Kovler Project Against Torture.

After graduating from law school with honors, Sam clerked at D.C. Superior Court for the Hon. Alfred S. Irving, Jr., who sits on the complex civil litigation docket and is the Deputy Presiding Judge of the Civil Division.  Sam is active in the Women’s Bar Association for the District of Columbia and has served as Co-Chair of its Well-Being Committee for the past two years.

Prior to law school, Sam was the finance director for a statewide political campaign in Colorado, directed a canvassing office for the Human Rights Campaign, and worked for a prominent Colorado law firm.
